You have a small business and it’s time to get your name on the web. You do a few Google searches but most promising designers don’t list any prices, and the ones that do seem suspicious somehow. Woah, what’s this? Apparently I can make my own website in a few clicks with this online system! Think of those poor suckers who paid for a website! Time to begin.
Wow this is easy. I’ve chosen my template, a beautiful light blue site with a cool banner thingie. Change the font to green, because you sell environmentally friendly products and blue and green are good colours to go together. I’ll make my own logo in Microsoft Paint. Somehow this template doesn’t look good any more. It’s probably just because I’ve gotten used to it, I bet it still looks awesome to everyone else.
I can add a page at the click of a button! Sweet. Six pages done. I need to make it so that people can zoom in on product images, how do I do that? They’re too small to read. I’ll email the people who make this website builder. Hmm, there’s no email address. This other web building software lets you zoom in on pictures, but I don’t want to start all over… I’ll just leave it with out. People can just email me if the want to see a bigger image.
Time to launch! solarpanelsgalore.websitebuilder123.com. Apparently I have to pay extra to get my own domain name. I’ll just leave it.
Why has no one visited my site, it’s been two months? It’s nowhere to be found on Google, who can I email about this? My site is nowhere near as good as solarpanelsperth.com.au.
Time to email a real web designer and explain what I need.
